Title - Use SOPs to allow everyone to perform to their potential Tags - businesssystems
As the owner, you live and breahte the business. You think about the best ways to do things, but employees usually don’t, and you can’t expect them to do it the best way without your guidance.
This is consistent with the philosophy of W. Edwards Deming who said that management are responsible for desgining and improving systems, and helping employees understand and execute them: 202206011052
Standard operating procedures (SOPs) are the documented steps (processes) to achieve a specific outcome. It clearly communicates what needs to be done and why.
To create an SOP, capture the key tasks of the process (ideally on video) and then break it up into easy-to-follow activities.
One way to organise the systems of an organsation is by using the ACDC model: Attract, Convert, Deliver, Collect.
ATTRACT:
This might include systems for marketing that attracts new clients.
CONVERT:
This might include systems for negotiating with potential clients or arranging appointments.
DELIVER:
Anything related to delivering (literally and figuratively) a product or service, e.g. sending invoices, collecting overdue payments.
