Title - Grow your business so it brings in revenue without you Tags - businesssystems

As the owner, when you hire someone, it reduces your profit and/or salary.

This is a negative in the short-term but a positive in the long-term.

Not only can hiring increase your revenue, it can also free you up to work on desiging and improving your business: 202205311902

Having said that, this only works when you hire well, defined as: the right person, with the right skills, in the right role.

3 ideas to hire well:

  1. Hire the person. Don’t hire solely for skills. It’s usually better to find a person with the right characteristics. They can be taught the right skills. Getting an experienced person to change their attitude, workflows and priorities to perform for your business is much harder.

  2. Offer prospective employees what they want. It’s not all about money. Employees may also value flexibility, creative freedom, or training opportunities.

  3. Make diverse hires. Don’t employ someone based on whether you like them or share the same values. Doing the opposite - and bringing in someone with new perspectives - can be valuable for the organisation.
