Title - Peninsula sold me (an unconverted lead) to their “daughter company” Tags - callumstory
- Once upon a time, I was recruiting our first sonographer
- Every day, I was developing new systems in place (job description, policies, procedures, etc.)
- One day, my accountant offered a tax investigation insurance service
- The service was probvided by a company called Peninsula
- A benefit of the service was access to a free employment law helpline
- I used the helpline to ask for advice on structuring the new role
- Because of that, they arranged a free consultation with a guy from Peninsula
- Because of that, the guy gave me some advice and recommended their managed employment law and HR service at about £300 per month
- It wasn’t good value for us as a very small practice with basic needs we could fulfil without a managed service like Peninsula’s; so I said no
- Because of that, I began receiving emails from a company called Bright HR
- They promised a cheaper, less bespoke service than Peninsulas but with many of the same benefits (a downsell!)
- I was curious about this arrangement so I emailed the consultant and asked what the relationship was between Peninsula and Bright HR
- Until finally, the consultant replied and explained that Bright HR are owned by the same group of companies
- When Peninsula service proposals are rejected, it triggers contact from Bright HR
- The software sold by Bright HR is part of the full service package offer from Peninsula + some HR templates (minus bespoke documentation, insurance and advice)
- Bright HR customers can then upgrade to the full (Peninsula) service at any time
