WHAT I'M DOING NOW
Updated 20 October 2023 on a bumpy train from Exeter to Barnstaple.
Until recently, I was under the misguided impression that I was a decent parent. But my 3-year-old daughter has been... well... a handful. And that's putting it mildly. I'm trying to get better at responding to Mabel's emotions so I can help her work through them.
I recently started a job in that involves improving NHS services. For example, I'm helping to introduce a virtual interpretation service which should give patients better access to interpreters and save the organisation six figures per year.
As part of this role, I'm enjoying learning how to work with data to trigger and measure evidence-based changes. The first step is to learn SQL. And in the next few months, I'm going to Verona, Wisconsin, to do some training at Epic's "Intergalactic" headquarters.
Time away from work and family is fairly limited at the moment. But I do set aside 5-15 minutes a day to make something. A drawing, story, animation, caligraphy, or... well... anything, really. I've also been working on this website.
