On this season of Strictly Come Dancing, Anton Du Bec said that he goes into a dance thinking one of two things about his partner:

‘I don’t quite know what they’re going to do next,’ or
-
‘Let’s DANCE.’
There can be a similar dynamic between colleagues.
If a senior colleague doesn’t know what you’re going to do next, they’re unlikely to trust you with opportunities.
On the flip side, if they know that you’re a safe pair of hands, they are more likely to trust you to take care of business.
There are three components to this.
First, people learn to trust that you will deliver results after seeing you deliver results.
Second, trust develops when colleagues see you demonstrating the same values as them in the process of producing results.
Third, the level of trust you receive from colleagues seems to be positively correlated with the relevance, frequency, and clarity of your past results.
In other words, your colleagues are most lilkely to trust you if they’ve personally seen you behave exceptionally, in the process of delivering the result they need you to deliver now, over and over again.
That’s how you get a 10/10 from the judges.
