Title - Control the systems you can change and ignore all others Tags - businesssystems callumstory

We’ve all felt like a cog in a machine at one time or another.

I did when I was practicing as a radiographer.

I was determined to improve patient care.

The processes sucked and it drove me nuts.

I tried - and failed - to change them.

That drove me bat-cat crazy.

Eventually I realised I could spend my whole career swimming against the tide to improve how things were done in my profession - and in the NHS in general - or I could focus on the things I had more control over.

Some things are out of our hands.

Yet there are many systems under our control.

Most things don’t go the way we want because we don’t even try to change the outcomes. We only have to manage them to make things work in our favour.

For example, if you want to lose weight, you won’t do so through desire alone. You’ll also need a plan - a system - and to act on it.

Let go of circumstances that are out of your hands and focus on the systems you can influence. Play the hand you’ve been dealt.
