Ray Kroc designed processes that anyone could follow to produce a hamburger which was the same for each customer.

He did this because he saw the franchisee as the customer, in addition to the people who bought hamburgers, which eventually allowed him to sell the McDonald’s business thousands of times over.

McDonald’s is an example of a turn-key business - or a “business format franchise” - which can mature (202206021200) and grow because the model provides a predictable product or service to the customer without the owner’s presence.

It is also a business which is appealing to buyers because it runs on simple and efficient systems which mean it can be operated successfully by anyone.
