Title - Oversimplification Tags - influentialwritingfascination

Influential writing is NOT about doing of good job of explaining things so that your audience understands.

Rather, it’s about doing a good job of SIMPLIFYING things - often to the point of oversimplifying - so that your positions are accepted.

The reason this is so is that, now more than ever, people don’t want complexity - they want simplicity. They want concrete steps to take.

Suze Orman did this very well by oversimplifying personal finance to get her advice accepted by the masses.

This resulted in intense criticism from “specialists” like financial advisors and accountants - which for an influencer is a very good sign!

A broader example is in politics. A politician may have the best policies but people don’t want to hear the details; it’s boring. They want to hear the politician’s ideas and philosophies in very simple terms (ideally in story form).
