Title - Process goals vs end-result goals Tags - goals creativeprocess endresultgoal processgoal primarychoice secondarychoice

Setting process goals, rather than end-result goals, is ok as long as it’s your real goal.

Whereas it’s easy to mistakenly set process goals when what you really want is an end result.

Another way of looking at this is primary and secondary choices.

A primary choice is what you really want - usually an end result.

A secondary choice is an action to take you from where you are to where you want to be.

However, a primary choice can also be a “process” if that’s what you really want.

Take writing, for example.

Perhaps you enjoy writing for the love of writing, so you decide to set a goal to practice writing every day.

On the otehr hand, you may decide you want to get good at writing becuase it helps you achieve some other goal, e.g. an information marketing business.

Both are ok, but it’s important to be clear whether the goal you set is really a primary choice or secondary choice.
