I spoke to a member of staff at The Works in Green Lanes Shopping Centre in Barnstaple about their point of sale promotions. It’s a franchise and promotions are set by head office; distributed by the store manager. Promotions tend to be themed based on current events. For example, if there’s a Royal Wedding, they run promotions on products related to the Royal Family. They also run promotions based other themes and based on new products, e.g. on a collection of new books.
