To master a skill, set daily goals that encompass: (1) practice, (2) study, and (3) think.
Practice
Practicing is the doing of the skill , e.g. actually writing if you want to be a master writer.
Study
Studying is learning the details of the skill from other people by reading, watching or listening.
It can also involve studying the details of what you are doing now, what you were doing at your best, and comparing them to where you want to be.
Think
Thinking might involve pondering your goals and formulating questions to ask yourself and others.
When you ask your own questions, the answers will come to you. If you don’t, you become a cybernetic slave to the programming of others.
The questions you ask can go beyond the external elements of the endeavour and encompass mental imagery, deep breathing and relaxation techniques.
“Answers come to those who are willing to think, independently of practice and study time” - Matt Furey
