In a thriving economy, almost all anybody has to do is suit up, show up at the office, and wait for customers to arrive at the doorsetp. They’re carried along by the upward momentum of a positive economy, propelled forward by the “jet stream” of prosperity.

In a tougher economic environment, it’s a different story. Bad business people become paralysed. They freeze and retreat. Their business stagnates or folds completely. They spend more time doing more of the ineffective things they were doing before, but their ineptitude is no longer disguised by the powerful force of a strong economy.
