If you want to call on CFO’s and you’re introduced by a receptionist - that’s starting at the bottom and the blocker is effective. But to blind-side the blocker, have the chairman of the board introduce you to the CFO and the CFO won’t even see you coming - and you have a duty to report back to the top of the organisation.
