Title - Doability of joint ventures Tags - jointventures

Doability is about how likely a joint venture is to work.

The most “doable” joint ventures have three components:

  1. Access
  2. Affinity
  3. Delivery

Access

Access means that the “host” side of a joint venture has access to a market you want to reach. Access is not as good as affinity but at least gives you access to a desired market.

Affinity

Affinity is the depth of relationship that a joint venture partner has with the market you want to reach.

Delivery

Delivery is how you deliver a proposition to the market you want to reach.

Doability is positively correlated with the quantity and quality of delivery vehicles a joint venture host has. Multiple, ongoing, high quality delivery vehicles is ideal for a joint venture.

Example

Chiropractors have the most affinity with consultants, accountants and other people they deal with regularly.

So forming an alliance with those professionals would give you access + affinity with chiropractors - assuming they also had delivery vehicles.

Alternatively, a you could access chiropractors via a trade show for chiropractors. A booth at trade show would give you a delivery vehicle and access to chiropractors, but not affinity.
