Title - Maria biffed by sheep as 2-year-old Tags - sapstory
- About 2 years old
- In lambing shed with dad
- Overalls on; stomping around shed
- Must have to upset the ewe; she biffed me to the floor
- Mum panicked - “is she ok??”; dad watched and waited
- Got up; kicked the sheep in the bum!
- Sheep ok - probably barely noticed; scurried along
- Mum and dad laughed
It begins with a 2-year-old Maria - dressed in pink overalls - ushering a ewe and her newborn lamb into a pen. Unfortunately for me, mommy sheep was feeling very protective of her baby.
Even though I wasn’t much bigger than her lamb at the time, she must have felt threatened by my swagger because she took a step back, bowed down… and launched her head into my chest.
I flew threw through the air and landed on my back.
Both parents stood silent, rooted to the spot, waiting for a reaction.
To their surprise, I didn’t cry. Instead, I leapt to my feet, raced over to the ewe… and gave her the hardest kick I could muster!
I think the reason dad loves this story so much is that he could see his own determination in me.
And the reason mom doesn’t like the story is that watching a sheep attack her baby girl was like a nightmare coming to life.
