Buttery Buckwheat Groats

Serves: 4-6 Prep and cooking time: 25-30 minutes

Ingredients

450ml filtered water 165g buckwheat groats 1 tablespoon organic butter Dash of Celtic salt

Recipe

In a medium pan, bring the water to a boil. Don’t let too much water evaporate. Add the buckwheat groats, butter and salt. Reduce the heat to low, then cover and simmer for exactly 17 minutes, until the groats are soft (see note). Remove from the heat. Fluff the groats with a fork or spatula, cover, and allow to rest for another 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Larger groats may require longer cooking time, up to 21 minutes. But don’t overcook. Mushy buckwheat is not as satisfying in taste.
