The mission and purpose for Thomas Edison was the develop the electrical industry as he saw it. That was the long-term aim for him and his organisation. It guided his decisions. For example, at one point, he bought a lightbulb patent from a Scotsman. He didn’t do that because we wanted to sell lightbulbs; he did it because it served his mission and purpose to develop the electrical industry. Oh, the company he founded is called General Electric.
