Title - What You Are and What You Stand For Tags - influentialwritingpointofview
The principle of point of view says you have to decide and communicate:
-
What you are - the primary position you adopt… the box you want your audience to put you in… what they think of you as.
-
What you stand for - the philosophical positions you take on certain subjects. It’s the values you hold on certain subject and your enunciation of those values.
In the Influential Writing Workshop, Dan gave the example of “a highly skilled cosmetic dentist who deals with very difficult cases and patients.” If someone said they wanted a better smile, Dan wouldn’t think of this particular dentist. But if they said they wanted a better smile and had really bad phobia, then he would convince them to jump on a plane and go see him.
